Sheryl’s Summer Wish List

Hi everyone,

As you all know, summer is by far my favorite season. No school, great weather, time with friends, beach days, movie nights, and of course – fabulous fashion trends. Although I love shopping at various places online and in store, I’ve always wanted to easily get all the brands I love off one website. This is why I love websites like www.ShopSpring.com. Inspired by the beautiful boutiques lining New York City’s Spring Street in SoHo, the brand emulates the experience of having all these shops available in one place.

My favorite part of the site is the accessories store which includes over 850 brands, some of my favorites being: Benefit CosmeticsKate Spade, Jack Rogers, Rebecca Minkoff, Free People, Steve Madden, and Urban Outfitters.  There are even high end brands like Alexander McQueen, GivenchySalvatore Ferragamo, Kenneth Cole, Rebecca Taylor, Ted Baker, and Rachel Zoe.

Since the site has so many different brands to choose from, different people can shop there and guarantee that they will find something to suit their styles.

Today, I’ll be staring a few of my top picks that are on my radar for this season. All of the items I mention are from the brands on the site. Be sure to check them out with the links listed:

  1. Kimchi Blue Gina Jo Sweetheart RomperScreen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.18.06 AM.png

I was so excited to see Urban Outfitters on this site, and even more excited to see that this flouncy number was on SALE! I love this lightweight, sleeveless sweetheart neck romper with flouncy flared shorts. It looks super vintage with buttons + pin tucking, but also very chic and girly.

2. Luna Round Cat Eye Sunglasses

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.30.03 AMScreen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.29.57 AM

These totally remind me of the QUAY sunglasses, but at a fraction of the price! I love the gold color, as opposed to silver, because it compliments my tanner complexion, so these are perfect for me. These sunnies add such a cool, chic vibe to any outfit.

3. Steve Madden Stecy Heel – Black

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.39.24 AM.png

I’ve always wanted a pair of sleek and simple black heeled sandals that were the perfect height. I was contemplating buying them for full price on Nordstrom’s website, but I saw these for 25% off on http://www.ShopSpring.com!

4. Benefit Cosmetics they’re real! lengthening mascara

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.41.13 AM.png

I’ve heard so many great reviews of this mascara that I need to try it for myself. It has the ability to lengthen, volumize, curl, and separate all in this small bottle.

5. Rebecca Taylor Pickstitch Jacket

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.47.29 AM.png

I’m a huge fan of any jacket that can spice up a simple look, especially Moto jackets. You guys know that I love my GAP Pink Moto Jacket, but this Rebecca Taylor piece is higher-end and better-quality. I love the quilted texture, asymmetric zip front, and exposed metal zip pockets.

6. Rebecca Minkoff MOTO BUCKET – BLACK

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.50.45 AM.png

Another huge trend for sumer has been leather bucket bags. I’m not sure why (since it’s not the most convenient – structurewise), but one can’t deny that they are super unique and interesting. These bags are a happy medium between a small purse and large tote bag. Known for buckles and details, Rebecca Minkoff’s bucket bag is both elevated and edgy that you can sling over your shoulder for summer.

7. Ted Baker NATLEAH Scallop detail ribbed dress – Mint

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.56.00 AM.png

Guys, I think I’ve actually fallen in love with this dress. If you know my style at all, you know that I’m a huge girly-girl. This pastel mint color is bold enough to make a statement but also muted at the same time. I think this dress is perfect for brunch in the city, Easter, or a birthday party.

8. Free People Denim Lace-Up Mini Skirt

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 11.59.09 AM.png

Free People is typically known for it’s bohomien, free spirit style. Though I don’t shop there often, I’m in love with this denim mini skirt. Denim skirts are definitely coming back from the ’90s. And this particular skirt is unique for the lace up and pleated details.

9. Urban Outfitters Kimchi Blue Pleated Maxi Skirt

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 12.03.19 PM.png

I don’t normally wear maxi skirts because of my petite frame (5’3″ and proud!). But I can’t help but fall in love with this pastel pink color, the side slit, and the pleated details. If I style it, I would wear the exact outfit as the model: a simple white tank top, brown sandals, and gold jewelry. Effortless and chic!

10. Soludos Suede Lace-Up Tassel Platform Espadrille Sandals

Lastly, I have been on the hunt fot the perfect brown espadrilles. Another major trend for summer 2016, these shoes are comfortable like Vans but stylish like flats. Started in the Mediterranean, Soludos is one of the most common brands for these shoes.

I hope you guys got some fashion inspiration for Summer 2016. Be sure to check out http://www.ShopSpring.com for more of what’s on trend and how you can stay on trend for the best prices!

Hope you enjoyed!

Free and Flowy

Hey ladies (and gentlemen)!

A super popular trend for spring and summer this year has been off-the-shoulder tops. Personally, I’m a huge fan of them because you can bare a little skin, without being too risqué. Even though they remind me of a Coachella desert music festival, off the shoulder tops are totally wearable anywhere – even a city like NY.

Today, I styled this amazing Zara Blouse with light wash jeans from Gap Factory, and some tan heeled boots by Chinese Laundry.  Wearing this to school, my outfit was pretty casual, just a simple white style.

Palmer’s Collaboration

Recently, I was sent these amazing Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Flip Balm Ultra Lip Moisture in three flavors: Creamy Coconut (green), Ripe Mango (orange), and Juicy Watermelon (pink). At first, I thought the packaging resembled the EOS products. However, instead of a time-consuming twist opening, these Palmer’s Flip Balms have unique and innovative packaging. The one of a kind cover allows for ease of application and easily flips and locks back in place. Moreover, their quality greatly surpasses EOS. Since their flipbalms are made with pure Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Vitamin E and pure Coconut Oil, your lips will be moisturized for 8+ hours.

Not only does Palmer’s refresh and hydrate your lips in one simple flip and click, but the brand also promotes sustainability and environ-friendliness. Their products contain No Parabens, No Phthalates, No Petrolatum, and No Gluten – how amazing is that?!

Personally, my favorite flavor is the Creamy Coconut, because of the tropical aroma as you glide the flipbalm over your lips. It is safe to say that these Flip Balms have become a favorite of mine; I carry them all the time now! Palmer’s is definitely an ethical and favorable brand – I can’t wait to try more of their products!

Now, Palmer’s has a global presence, available in over 80 countries offering the #1 Cocoa Butter brand in the world. This unique heritage, product innovation, and commitment to quality has made Palmer’s a trusted household name, used by families for generations.

Feeling Like Blair Waldorf

On my way to go to Manhattan today, I decided to spice up my look and try Blair Waldorf’s outrageous and elaborate preppy style. However, instead of spend $450 on one Valentino skirt, I opted for the J.Crew sale section.

My Inspiration Photos: See how Leighton Meester’s stylist coordinated the top and skirt?

On My Radar for Spring 2016

To me, springtime brings to mind blooming flowers, ice cream trucks, and of course – cute fashion. This spring, the major trends I’ve been seeing have been off the shoulder, mirrored aviators, lace-up flats, espadrilles, chambray denim, gingham, ruffles, scallops, the list could go on. I’ve also been seeing the same colors pop up on Instagram: white, navy, blue, and blush pink.

To prepare my closet, I love to make Polyvore sets to give me inspiration. They only take two minutes to add your favorite items to a set. Polyvore is like Pinterest, but everything makes sense together on the board. Today, I’m going to share some of my favorite sets that represent my spring style. Enjoy!

Blushing Pink

Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 3.45.47 PM.png

1. Chicnova Fashion Box Clutch // I can’t believe the intricate bag is only $23! It would look great with an LBD for a night time party.

2. Zara Top with Peter Pan Collar // I love shopping at Zara during the springtime because that store encapsulates my style: preppy and chic. This collared top would be so cute with white cropped pants and some cute sandals.

3. Rebecca Taylor Off Shoulder Gauze Dress // Anything off the shoulder reminds me of something to wear to a tropical vacation, in Bali or Santorini or something. Super loose and flowy, it’s also a great swimsuit coverup.

4. Red Valentino ‘Eyes’ flared dress // I am absolutely obsessed with Red Valentino’s whole collection. But this fit-an-flare cap sleeve dress is so cute!

5. Kate Spade New York Initial Clutch // How cute is this purse? It’s the perfect addition for any black-tie or formal event, instantly dressing up any look.

6. FRENDS Layla leather and rose gold-tone headphones // These headphones have been all the rage because they are perfect for a feminine woman who still loves to listen to music Compared to those bulky BEATS headphones, these are way more delicate and girly.

7. Chicwish Elate Pink Dress with Bow Decor // This dress reminds my of Kate Spade: the girly color and bow, but it’s a fraction of the price!

8. Tory Burch Caroline Ballet Flats // These are a classic staple shoe for any girly girl. While black flats are great, nude flats can lengthen the leg.

9. Steve Madden ‘Sunshine’ Lace-Up Flat // Lace-up flats have suddenly been really popular since the beginning of 2016. It’s definitely an interesting twist on the typical ballet flat. I especially love these ones because of the short gold heel. Just like my Ivanka Trump E Day Chelsea Boot (from the winter time), the gold heel just dresses up any look.

City Chic meets Preppy

Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 4.18.06 PM.png

  1. AVIATOR FLASH LENSES POLARIZED BLUE FLASH // Just recently, I purchased a pair of these, and I’m in love. They’re super chic and mirrored lenses are extremely popular in NYC. An additional benefit is that mirrored lenses block out your eyes, so if you’re having a rough day (we’ve all been there), just slip these babies over your face and your good to go!
  2. White House Black Market Saint Honore Distressed // A huge trend has been distressed boyfriend jeans. However, these jeans offer a classic rise and distressed touches for a more fitted ‘girlfriend’ look.
  3. Thomas Mason For J.Crew Mandarin-Collar Tuxedo Shirt // Not your average white button down, the tuxedo style and mandarin collar are a nice twist on a classic white blouse.
  4. Chloé Drew small leather and suede cross-body bag // I love how girly and simple Chloe bags are – for everyday use AND fancier events. This mixed media bag  features both soft suede and a contrasting leather front flap. The gold-tone hardware and long chain strap finish off this cute purse.
  5. Tory Burch ‘Miller’ Flip Flop // I swear I mention these shoes in almost every blog post. But they’re are so timeless, I could pair them with any outfit. I’ve seen 15- year old girls and 60-year old women wear them; they’re another great staple piece that will never go out of style.

Espadrille Love

Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 4.33.28 PM.png

  1. Aquazzura Aquazurra x Poppy Delevingne Midnight Flat Espadrilles // Love the sun and moon embellishments!
  2. Soludos Lace and canvas wedge espadrille sandals
  3. Suede Espadrilles
  4. Soludos Classic Canvas Stripe Espadrille Sandal
  5. Aquazzura Belgravia Denim Espadrille // If you’re looking for a high-end designer summer shoe, these are perfect. I love the denim material!
  6. Soludos Platform Gladiator Sandals // I love how Solids mixed both leather and the classic espadrille material.

RED Valentino Dresses

Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 4.43.46 PM.png

  1. RED Valentino Peter Pan Collar Heart-Print Dress
  2. REDVALENTINO Embroidered cotton-poplin mini dress
  3. REDValentino Women’s Lace Scalloped Dress – Nude
  4. REDValentino Embroidered cotton-poplin top
  5. Smocked Bodice Lace Dress
  6. REDValentino Two-tone cady mini dress

RED (Romantic Eccentric Dress) is another line of  Valentino, mainly focusing on contemporary party dresses. Even though the prices make my wallet cry, I love window shopping these girly dresses.

Well, that’s it folks! Hope you enjoyed what I’ve been eyeing this spring and noticed a couple of trends.

Top Fashion Picks For Spring

Hey loves!

With spring just around the corner, I thought I’d show you what I’ve been eyeing while shopping online. My favorite stores are Zara, Forever 21, and J.Crew. Living in NYC has definitely given me that “city chic” style, but I also love the “Down South Prep” look as well. Overall, you could say that I’m a fusion of the two contrasting styles.

Enjoy my top picks for spring!

    199.00 USD

This jacket looks like it was made for an edgy biker girl (aka NOT ME), but I think black leather jackets are a staple in every girl’s closet. They could instantly dress up a white t-shit and boyfriend jeans.

3. I NEED THIS SHIRT IN MY LIFE! (Just waiting for it to go on sale). The cutouts and scallop details are just so girly; this shirt was made for me.

39.90 USD

4. This spring, off the shoulder tops are making a comeback from the 90s, and I definitely support them. Simple shirts (like the one below) add such a cute element to your outfit.

New Look Frill Off Shoulder Denim Top

5. Here’s an off the shoulder dress. I love this color and print, as well! Super cute.

Contemporary Ornate Mini Dress

6. Cutout A-Line Mini Dress

22.90 USD

I think simple , solid-color dresses are so nice for spring. Since there are no distracting prints, it makes the look more casual for school. This yellow color is also just so appealing to the eye; you’ll def stand out from the crowd!

Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 2.52.49 PM

Originally $79.50. But its on sale for $38.99!

Call me a mom, but these chiffon blouses are so my style. Not only are the classic and time-less, but they can be dressed up as business casual or dressed down for school. I especially love the dots on the top too.

Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 3.12.35 PM.png

Originally $75. But now on sale for $44.50!

Again, another one of these business-like blouses. The light pink one is just too adorable to pass up.

Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 3.14.58 PM.png

I’ve always loved pop-over shirts, because they’re so easy to throw on in the springtime, as well as instantaneously make you look put together. When I came across this on J.Crew, I loved that it was short sleeves too.

Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 3.17.14 PM.png

10. Lastly, I’ve been eyeing these TORY BURCH MILLER SANDALS in PATENT LEATHER since last summer, but never wanted to splurge on them. But I’ve been saving up, so hopefully I’ll get my hands on these by the end of winter. These patent sand thong sandals are so classic (there’s a trend here…) and easy to pair with anything. Whether you’re wearing Lululemon leggings or wearing a cute sundress, these shoes are perfect for every-day use.

$195.00 USD

Those are all of my top picks for the upcoming spring season. I think they show an array of styles that are perfect for anyone.

Are you warm or cool? Find out your skintone here!

Have you ever bought that periwinkle dress you’ve been eyeing and realized it look terrible on yourself? Then, you might have warm undertones.

Or have you ever swiped on a red lipstick and it looked horrendous? Then, you probably have cooler undertones.

Warm Tone:

  • If you tan more readily than burn.
  • If gold accessories compliment you better
  • Generally, you might be tanner, have dark hair, and brown or hazel eyes
  • If your veins appear green
  • Earth-tones, peaches, reds, and corals look best (in terms of clothing)
  • Your skin pops in true red lipstick

Screen Shot 2016-02-27 at 10.30.13 PM

Cool Tone:

  • If you burn more readily than tan
  • If silver accessories look better
  • Generally, you might be paler, have lighter hair, and green, gray, or blue eyes.
  • If your veins appear blue or purple
  • Jewel-tones, silvers, and cool pink look best
  • Your skin pops when wearing a more blue-based red or light pink lip color.

Screen Shot 2016-02-27 at 10.33.09 PM

For the gold vs. silver jewelry test, look at which metal makes your skin glow and teeth brighten. Do your eyes look clear and bright?

It may be discouraging, not looking good in your favorite colors. But here are some tips to still incorporate warmer colors on cooler skin and cooler colors on warm skin:

If you love red lipstick, choose colors that fit you palette. If you have a warm skin tone, choose true reds and bright pinks. If you have cool skin tone, choose blue-based red colors.

You can still wear your favorite colors, but you can adjust the shade. Take the color, yellow for example. If you are warm, choose bright or earthy shades; if you are blue, choose soft and light yellows.

*Take into consideration that these “rules” are not set in stone. Just like you choose the shape of clothing to best fit your body, you may adjust the type of colors to best compliment your skin tone.

For example, I have a warm skin tone (dark hair, brown eyes, tan skin), but I still love wearing blue. While light sky blues make me look blotchy, navy and dark blues enhance my olive undertones:

Bright tomato reds and oranges look great on warm skin tones:IMG_8092

As you can see, the olive shirt had earthy tones, so it compliments my warm skintone.

Since I am not cool-toned, here are some celebrities who ARE cool-toned. Look closely at the shades that they are wearing. Most celebrities hire an image consultant, who are aware of what makes their skin and other features stand out on the red carpet.

  1. Taylor Swift

2. Anne Hathaway

Style.Stargirl takes on Universal Studios Islands of Adventure (Day 3)

First, we went back to the Orlando side and took the Hogwarts Express from Kings Cross Station (Platform 9 and 3/4s) to Hogsmeade Station. After a cool window experience on the train, we promptly arrived on the Islands of Adventure side.

First, my brother and I rode on the Dragon Challenge rollercoaster. From the 4th Book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, we had the choice of riding the RED Chinese Fireball or BLUE Hungarian Horntail. Of course, we had to go on both. Luckily, they were very similar; the only thing different was the color of the rollercoaster. This ride didn’t have many drops, and instead, mostly loops, which I enjoyed immensely.

Right next to that was a smaller, traditional wooden rollercoaster (Flight of the Hippogriff) which was a relaxing break from the crazy rush of adrenaline from the previous two rollercoasters.

That afternoon, we ventured our way to the “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” simulation ride. I didn’t think anything could beat the Dragon Challenge rollercoaster, but this ride sure did! With the fast pass, I only waited on line for 10 minutes before entering a 4-D simulation of Hogwarts classrooms and a Quidditch match. I came out of that ride, MINDBLOWN!

After spending a few hours in the Hogsmeade part of the Wizarding World, we left to go into Marvel Super Hero Island. There, we went on the sky-high “Doctor Doom’s Fearfall”, a ride that involves dropping you 200 feet from the sky. But lo and behold, it was not scary one bit. The ride dropped you a little bit at a time, and since it was over so quickly, I couldn’t experience that feeling of anticipation and consternation.

Overall, these three days at the adventure parks were super fun. I’ve been stressing out lately, as any Junior would be, so this was the perfect break to ride rollercoasters, get away from the cold winter, and spend time with family. No matter if you have a family or you are my age, Disney World and Orlando Studios will always be the happiest place on Earth.
