Is Jack’s Wife Freda worth the hype?

As a native New Yorker, I’m surrounded by different types of cuisine options. Recently, I went to Jack’s Wife Freda on Lafayette Street for the first time. It serves Mediterranean cuisine, with a cute, quaint setting.

While this brunch place is great for taking Instagram photos, the food and service was very disappointing. Firstly, the water was super overpriced ($8 for one bottle), and the wait line took a while. The food wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t off-the-walls amazing. My friend and I both ordered Chicken Kebabs (Peri-Peri marinated chicken with couscous and chopped salad), but the chicken and couscous were both dry. I didn’t want to spend another $8 for a bottle of water either.

Overall, I’d rate the place a 7/10. I’ll have to go again to get a second impression.
